Created through collaboration with leading Italian researchers, it harnesses the oxidation caused by the friction between paper and metal. ETHERGRAF®, the modern heir of Silverpoint, is an innovative metal alloy which “scratches” common
paper and oxidizes it, leaving a light and romantic mark like graphite, but timeless like ink.
Ethergraf effortlessly writes on various paper types, with results varying depending on the paper’s type, quality, and the pressure applied during writing. For an optimal writing experience with a darker mark, Stone paper is the ideal choice.
A captivating writing techniqueThe technique of silverpoint was used by the majority of contemporary Fiorentine artists, including Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello and Botticelli. It began to gradually disappear during the 16th century following the diffusion of graphite, which did not require special preparation of the surface and, especially, could be erased, as opposed to the metal tip.
